The
Weekly
Wrap Up

Hello Reader,

This week's newsletter looks a little different—because yesterday, I got married! Since I took a few days off during the week, our regular weekly wrap-up would have been difficult (hard to recap when you weren't working!). Instead, I still wanted to share something valuable with you, so I thought I'd take a different approach this week.

One of my favourite parts about any design project is the final stage—when all the hard work is done, the stress is over, and we get to photograph the space. It’s usually a pretty hectic day, but it’s also one of the most rewarding. Working with our photographer to capture our projects is always so much fun, and at the end of it all, we hand over the keys to our clients, seeing the joy in their eyes. It truly is a beautiful moment.

When we photograph projects, they need to be beautifully styled to help our audience visualise what the home looks like when it's truly 'lived in.' So this week, I want to share my Top 20 Australian Furniture Brands & Shops —ones I personally love, recommend to clients, and shop from for my own home.

Reply to this email and let me know if there are any brands you think I’ve missed or which ones are your favourites too!

The Top 20 (in alphabetical order)

Al + Imo

A Torquay-based husband and wife duo that create handcrafted, solid timber furniture (mostly beds). Their beautiful pieces are timeless and designed to last a life time. I found these two many years ago when they were running their business podcast and have been following along ever since!

Coco Flip

A Melbourne-based furniture and lighting studio that blends playful yet refined design with top-tier materials. Their dining tables, chairs, and lighting pieces exude sophistication and craftsmanship. I personally own a dining table from Coco Flip, and it’s one of my favourite pieces at home!

Dowel Jones

A contemporary Melbourne-based brand creating minimalist, yet eye-catching furniture and lighting. Their Geelong-based factory allows them to maintain high-quality production standards as they push the boundaries of fun and functional design. Their pieces add a bold statement to any space. Late last year they did a 10-year celebration exhibition at the Geelong National Wool Museum and it was excellent!

Double

An up and coming brand that creates minimal, functional and MACHINE WASHABLE rugs! I've got three of these in my home, including the one you'll see under the dining table in the picture above. I've got a discount code that will get you 15% off. Use: GECSEK_15

Ellison Studios

A boutique furniture brand founded by interior stylist, Sarah Ellison in 2017. Their iconic furniture features in many of Australia's 'Instagram worthy' homes and I am confident you would have seen their pieces before. Their range has recently expanded to include rugs lighting and mirrors!

En Gold

Known for their stunning sculptural stone and travertine furniture, En Gold pieces bring natural beauty into any space. Their handcrafted designs are elegant, timeless and perfect for those looking for high-end statement furniture with organic textures.

Fearon

This brand is all about bold, playful and statement-making furniture. Their cult-favourite 'Chub' stools, zig-zag benches and colourful bed frames have a strong following in the Australian design scene.

Gecsek

At Gecsek, we create thoughtful, function-driven designs that are both beautiful and practical. From full-scale renovations to bespoke furniture, we specialise in creating spaces that reflect our clients' unique lifestyles. In Torquay, we designed custom, built-in beds with lift-up lids, integrated LED lighting and integrated storage to transform and simplify a small home with storage issues. In Werribee, we designed custom breakfast nook seating with storage underneath and an adjacent buffet cabinet. This allowed what is a rather large, open space to be utilised while creating unison.

Good Huis Co.

A Geelong-based furniture and homewares brand founded by one of our friends! Good Huis Co. offers beautifully crafted pieces that celebrate local manufacturing. Their focus on curating lived-in, layered spaces makes them a standout choice for any home. AND they're REALLY nice people too!

Idle Hands

Founded by a former shipbuilder and an artist, Idle Hands brings together industrial expertise and creative vision. Their sculptural yet functional furniture is made by hand in Melbourne, and their pieces can be customised to fit any space.

Jardan

Jardan is one of Australia's most well known and respected furniture brands. They have been around since the late 80's and are known for their handcrafted furniture, homewares and lighting. Their products are not cheap but they've been designed to last the test of time and at no cost to the environment, they've been proudly carbon neutral since 2014.

Living Etc.

A Geelong-based furniture and homewares store that curates stylish, contemporary pieces. Whether you're after unique home accessories or statement furniture, their selection has something to elevate every space. Their extensive range of fabrics and made-to-order pieces, allow for endless opportunities to create a space uniquely yours.

Made by Morgen

This Melbourne studio creates high-quality, handcrafted timber furniture inspired by Scandinavian and mid-century styles. Their ethos 'make it simple, make it well' ensures timeless, sustainable and beautifully designed pieces you'll have forever.

Nicole Lawrence

Nicole Lawrence's designs are a staple in many beautiful, designer homes. Know for sleek, sculptural metal furniture with smooth curves and contemporary finishes, she works closely with local suppliers to ensure every piece is perfect.

Pop & Scott

Founded by life and business partner duo Poppy Lane and Scott Gibson, this Melbourne-based studio is famous for its hand-painted pots and artistic furniture. They continue to craft unique lighting and statement pieces in their own workshop while collaborating with local artisans.

RJ Living

A contemporary brand offering stylish, well-design furniture with a strong focus on quality and aesthetics. We used their pieces in our Myrniong project, and they worked beautifully in the space!

Socialight

A Torquay-based brand supplying lighting sourced from all parts of the world. From local Geelong artisans to beautifully imported Italian pieces, there is something here for every style and budget. They're a small business that have had a big impact since they opened just over 12 months ago.

Sundown Lighting

A Geelong-based lighting brand run by Chris Delia, Sundown Lighting creates thoughtfully design, handcrafted timber pieces that work beautifully in both residential and commercial spaces. We used their 'Wiggle Pendant' in our Belmont II project and it was the highlighting feature of the kitchen. You can view their range on display at Socialight.

Trit House

A go-to destination for contemporary, Scandinavian-inspired furniture and homewares. Their own pieces blend elegance and functionality, while they also stock many of Australia's favourite designers. We used their tub chair in our Myrniong project.

Gecsek July 2025 TheWeeklyWrap Up Hello Reader, This week has been a welcomed reset. I've spent most of it at the desk, advancing our active projects, refining design details, and catching up on admin (the less glamorous but very necessary part of the job!). Earlier in the week I was deep in the development phase for our Bellarine cottage project, including a couple of material selection visits to GT&B. I’ll be sharing more on that soon. Later in the week, we presented the initial concept for...
