The
Weekly
Wrap Up

Hello Reader,

This week has been a welcomed reset. I've spent most of it at the desk, advancing our active projects, refining design details, and catching up on admin (the less glamorous but very necessary part of the job!).

Earlier in the week I was deep in the development phase for our Bellarine cottage project, including a couple of material selection visits to GT&B. I’ll be sharing more on that soon.

Later in the week, we presented the initial concept for our contrast therapy project. An incredibly unique and exciting brief. I’ll be able to share more visuals from that in due time, but for now, it’s staying under wraps…

But what I can share with you today is an exclusive look at our Werribee project.

The project is now one month out from completion, and while we’ll be professionally photographing the house at the end, I wanted to give you a private preview of the progress. This is the kind of behind-the-scenes detail that doesn’t make it to Instagram.

Project Update: Werribee

The hybrid of scale and intimacy has been carefully considered in this 26-seater dining zone. A large inset carpet anchors the space within an open-plan layout, while overhead pendants provide further definition. The cornice has been offset from the wall to allow for an integrated LED perimeter light, adding softness and a subtle glow. Rebated sheer curtains will soon be installed with the track concealed behind the cornice line.

To the left of the arched opening, this built-in nook creates a calm morning ritual space, defined by a timber-lined ceiling and soft feature lighting. Pelmets have been recessed to allow for concealed motorised blinds, and a custom linen seat cushion with a rolled backrest is on the way.

A bold black and white paver pattern gives this home a distinctive presence. Paired with steel-framed windows and doors, the aesthetic nods to a French Provincial classic but with modern development. Landscaping is still to come, but the framework is now in place.

Natural stone, star-and-cross tiles line the floor and skirting, giving movement and texture to a soft, tonal palette. Wainscoting will soon be painted to match the upper walls, and a decorative brass mirror will complete the look.

This space features a fully custom microcement wall finish. A subtle, seamless texture that creates a continuous surface effect. It’s still curing and will dry to an even matte finish. The vanity will be finished with an additional stone inset around the base, and glass-cappings will be added to the lights to complete the fittings.

I am realising that bathrooms are particularly hard to photograph... Photos really don't do justice to these two bathrooms. Designed as a luxurious, hotel-style space, this bathroom is colour-drenched in deep burgundy tones. Each tile is unique, showcasing bold natural stone patterning. The microcement walls continue the colour story, wrapping the room in a moody, immersive tone ideal for a space with no natural light.

While there are many more rooms to show you in this project, I am going to wrap it up today with the office. Rich, layered and functional. Brass butt hinges, fluted glass cabinetry, subtle hardware, and colour-wrapped joinery elevate this compact office into a design feature. A curated piece of art will soon hang below the feature light.

If you're curious about any of the design details, specifications, or how we create these types of spaces, feel free to reply—I’m always happy to share more of the “why” behind the design.

Gecsek: A+I Mar 2025 TheWeeklyWrap Up Hello Reader, This week's newsletter looks a little different—because yesterday, I got married! Since I took a few days off during the week, our regular weekly wrap-up would have been difficult (hard to recap when you weren't working!). Instead, I still wanted to share something valuable with you, so I thought I'd take a different approach this week. One of my favourite parts about any design project is the final stage—when all the hard work is done, the...
